Gilgeous-Alexander, Jokic, Cunningham, Wembanyama Headline Latest NBA MVP Straw Poll

Eleven players received votes in the latest NBA MVP straw poll conducted by ESPN's Tim Bontemps with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ahead of Nikola Jokic for first place. Gilgeous-Alexander received 78 first place votes compared to 18 first place votes for Jokic. Gilgeous-Alexander has now been the leader of the poll for four straight times, which has never happened before in the history of Bontemps conducting the exercise.
While Jokic is firmly in second, Bontemps believes Wembanyama is the most likely player to win MVP if Gilgeous-Alexander doesn't with how he has come on from an early season injury combined with the possibility of the San Antonio Spurs overtaking the Oklahoma City Thunder for the No. 1 seed.
Gilgeous-Alexander, Jokic, Cunningham and Wembanyama were the only players to receive at least one first place vote. Gilgeous-Alexander was the only player to appear on every ballot as Jokic was omitted from two.
